A Coconut Flight to Visit Nancy French

Last night I had a flying dream. Most of the time when I fly I use my arms. This time, I used half of a coconut shell. I held the coconut ahead of me as a gust of wind took me up in the air. The coconut became like the nose of a jet. I flew to Tennessee to visit Nancy French and her family.

Nancy lived in a log cabin on the top of a hill in Tennessee. There were no roads leading up to her house. There was a front porch and a back porch with no doors.

Nancy was was in a long dress with an apron, something similar to what was worn on Little House on the Prairie. Her children were barefoot, dressed like they were hanging with Huck Finn. David was in slacks, a white dress shirt, and dress shoes.

Nancy was cooking something in a big black pot over the fireplace. She asked me if I wanted something to eat. I declined and took my coconut and flew away. I was having a difficult time getting above the top of the trees. As I was about to crash, I woke up.

Anyone have an interpretation?

When I quit laughing I will answer your riddle.

And that is EXACTLY what Nancy and David Dress like!

I think it was a warning to Nancy: It's (coco)nuts to turn yourself back into a mountain mama. Head north again. When are you getting that apartment in New York?

Okay, may that's just my wishful thinking that she would come back my direction. I'm having trouble dealing with her southern reimmersion.

What it means for you, David? I have no clue!

Let me go out on a limb and ask this far out question.......could the fact that you are a man and she is a beautiful young woman have ANY thing to do with you dreaming about her?!?!?! DUH!

I admire your transparency to admit it.

You go CHICO!

Why did you refuse her food? Do you know something about her cooking that you want to tell the rest of us?

The coconut has signifigance because someone in your life has a hard outer shell, but once you get past the hard exterior, there is some good meat in the middle.

Perhaps Nancy is the coconut, you cracked, and see how welcoming and friendly she is!

Taking my shingle down for the rest of the day!

From www.dreammoods.com:

Coconuts

To see a coconut in your dream, foretells that you will receive an unexpected gift of money

Flying

To dream that you are flying, signifies a sense of freedom where you had initially felt restricted and limited.

Trees

To see lush green trees in your dream, symbolizes new hopes, growth and desires. It also implies strength and stability. You are concentrating on your own self-development and individuation.
To dream that you are climbing a tree, signifies that you will achieve your career goals and reach those high places in society. The degree of difficulty to which you climb the tree will measure the speed of your achievement of these goals

To dream that you cut down a tree, signifies that you are wasting your energy, time, and money on foolish pursuits.

To see a falling tree in your dream, indicates that you are off balance and out of sync. You are off track and headed in the wrong direction.

Woman

To see a woman in your dream, represents nurturance, passivity, caring nature, and love. It refers to your own female aspects or may also represent your mother. Alternatively, it may indicate temptation and guilt. If you know the woman, then it may symbolize the concerns and feelings you have about her.

Cabin

To dream that you are in or see a cabin in your dream, indicates that you succeed via your own means. It suggests that you are self-reliant and independent, yet still remain humble. You prefer the simpler things in life.

Children

To see children in your dream, signifies your own childlike qualities or a retreat back to a childlike state. It is an extension of your inner child during a time of innocence, purity, simplicity, and a carefree attitude. You may be longing for the past and the chance to satisfy repressed desires and unfulfilled hopes. Take some time off and cater to the inner child within.

Fire

Depending on the context of your dream, to see fire in your dream can symbolizes destruction, passion, desire, illumination, transformation, enlightenment, or anger. It may suggest that something old is passing and something new is entering your life. Your thoughts and views are changing. In particular, if the fire is under control or contained in one area, it is a metaphor of your own internal fire and inner transformation. It also represents your drive and motivation.

Cooking

To dream that you are cooking, signifies your desire to influence others in such a way that they will like you or become dependent on you. Alternatively, it represents your nurturing side or wanting to be nurtured. You want to be loved.

Man

To see a man in your dream, denotes the masculine aspect of yourself - the side that is assertive, rational, aggressive, and/or competitive. If the man is known to you, then the dream may reflect you feelings and concerns you have about him.

Pot

To see a pot in your dream, represents your attitudes and may reveal hidden anger or frustration.

To dream that the pot is boiling or bubbling over, suggests that you are filled with enthusiasm, excitement and/or ideas. Alternatively, it may indicate that you have more than you can handle. You may be overwhelmed with emotions.

Smoke
To see smoke in your dream, signifies that some trouble will be entering your life. You are suffering from confusion and anxiety. You are not seeing things clearly.

David U,

I didn't see Nancy as a beautiful woman in my dream. She was sweating and had grime on her face from cooking over the pot. David did look pretty good though.:)

Well, I'll take a serious stab at it -- based on what you posted, David, as typical symbolism in dreams.

The other day, you posted that the Social Security Administration will only contact people if they are to receive a large sum of money. And I made the comment to you that you ought to give a large sum to your mom...they would contact her and you could meet her.

So, in your dream, assume that I represent your mom. I have a house that is impossible to enter and difficult to get to. You see the kids, who are apparently not taken care of (representing you and siblings) and you see me -- a mess, sweaty, and unkempt. I offer you food, nourishment, in what seems like an effort of welcoming you, but you refuse it -- recognizing that it's half-hearted at best and knowing you can't enter in to real fellowship with your mother. There are no doors to the cabin, after all. (The cabin represents the stoicism of your mom, her resourcefulness after your dad's death.)

Since this has been your desire and passion for so long, it puts you off guard, and you stumble over the trees a bit -- as you run away from the one person you've sought your whole life.

My David being in a suit represents your dad. Although he died in such a mysterious way, you always seem to view him affectionately. He is above the fray, even though he witnessed what was going on in the house with your mom and couldn't stop it. In fact, his death caused a lot of the heartache. But in your mind, he's above it and is cleaner than the circumstance seems to allow.

The fact that you are taken there by something broken, the half-shell, is indicative of the fractured life and passion you've had since your parents checked out on you. Your very brokeness has driven much of what you've done in life so far. It's definitely driven you to find your mom.

In the dream, you see her. She offers you a token of love and you reject it... not desiring a token of love, but rather the real thing.

Nancy French said...

Hummm... Good point. However, the cabin could still represent stoicism, but it's cut off from even her. She's on the outside of the cabin, after all... with unkempt kids and just a pot of stew...

Nancy French said...

Oh, I got it! maybe the cabin represents YOUR own self-reliance. And she never could've gotten in anyway.

Okay, that's all I got.

David Michael said...

Thank's Josephine!

jettybetty said...

Wow, not only is Nancy beautiful--she can interpret dreams!

David Michael said...

Clint may also be right!

believingthomas said...

Well, I feel stupid trying to go back and interpret it now that Nancy has. Should have known a writer would be good at that!

I started to post one yesterday but didn't.

Flying I definitely has something to do with freedom, of overcoming some restriction.

And the cabin with family in it important. Not a perfect family but a family non the less.

Nancy may be there because you wanted to see her in Memphis? Mystery woman that she is... makes the connection to finding your mother.

{I think the coconut is just wacky.}
