Wedding Ring Takes a Ride

This morning I could not find my watch or wedding ring. I usually put them together on my dresser. For some reason, it is uncomfortable for me to sleep with my wedding ring on. Anyway, I could not find them this morning. As I always do when I can't find something (keys, daily planner, ring, etc.) I retrace my steps. I searched for several minutes when it dawned on me where I left them.

Last night I went outside and spontaneously decided to shoot some baskets. I took off my ring and watch and set them on the bumper of our van. My ring and watch left with my daughter to go to school. The high school is about 2 miles from our house. I really didn't care that much about the watch, but my wedding ring is 23+ years old. It is the only wedding ring I have ever had.

I decided to drive slowly to the school and thought if the watch fell off the bumper and was still in the road, maybe my ring would be in the area. I drove all the way to the school and found no sign of my symbol of the covenant I made with Phyllis.

I pulled in front of the van and decided to look at the bumper. Amazingly, it was exactly where I put it last night. What a great feeling! When I got home today, I told Melissa the story and thanked her for not driving recklessly to school. Smooth corners!! Also, it would not have been a pleasant evening with Phyllis if I had lost the ring because of my stupidity. Thank you Lord!

David: Your story had a familiar "ring" to it. You better "watch" where you set things down in the future. I've set a coat and a camera on our car and drove away, never seeing either one again. Did you find your watch or just the ring? God bless! - David
