The Answer is Not in Politics

This morning I was flipping through the channels and came across the preacher, David Jeremiah. He was speaking about the power of prayer and he said, "The answer is not in politics, we should know that by now." I thought of the "Christian right" and all those who thought by having a "born again" president, the majority of the problems in this country would disappear.

Hillary Clinton was on Face the Nation this morning. She is talking about when she becomes President what will happen. There are probably liberals and others with similar philosophies listening that are thinking that she will fix the problems.

The problems are so much bigger than either party can deal with. Sometimes presidents have the ability to focus on certain issues to the point that we forget about other issues -- until those issues present themselves in a big way.

Over the past 14 years, the government should have solved our problems on health care, social security, the plight of the poor, the dramatic disparity between the rich and the poor, education, crime, prison populations, national security, etc., etc., etc.

As we progress further away from the foundations in which this country was built, we are going to have more problems. I am not talking about becoming a "Christian Nation." We were founded with Christianity in mind, however, the founders were not exclusive, but inclusive.

Also, as long as one political party does not want the other party being credited for solving a problem, our problems just get bigger. However, when all is said and done, the answer is not in politics.
