"It Takes a Catfish Queen Reject to Burn a Village"

A Red State of Mind -- How a Catfish Queen Reject Became a Liberty Belle is a brief glimpse into the life of a rebellious southerner, longing for life outside the politically incorrect tobacco fields of the Religious Right, and the forshadowing of the Culture of Corruption. The book has less secrets than Al-qaeda, but more twists and turns than the Da Vinci Code.

As a sheltered southerner, she learned what life was really like as an insurgent in the liberal world of the northeast. As an inspiring feminist, she soon learned how intolerant the tolerant were to anyone that did not have a desire for men to be castrated after donating their sperm for artificial insemination purposes.

As a mother, she realized that even her daughter was not safe from the liberal ideologues. "Under God" in the pledge of allegiance became code for conservative supreme court nominees, being against Roe vs Wade, and meant that Christians are stupid.

A couple of my favorite chapters are "Nancy the firestarter" and a chapter concerning her relationship with David Lee Roth and the entire Van Halen Band. Her writing does not include the Bird Flu or Hurricane Katrina.

It is obvious how Mrs. French is influenced by her husband, David French, a constitutional lawyer. His law degree is from Harvard.

I highly recommend this book. It is surprising how articulate and witty she is considering she is from the south and is a few grits short of a Shoney's breakfast special. Although she takes a few jabs at liberal leaders, she does it with satirical benevolence.

Something that I have really not thought of which came from the book is that southern liberals are conservative in comparison to many liberals in the Northeast. Also, even a girl from Paris, Tennessee can cross the liberal cultural divide and not lose her southern charm.

What do you think? What did you like or dislike about this book? Do you think they should have named the book, "It Takes a Catfish Queen Reject to Burn a Village?"

(I used as many liberal buzz words as I could in the writing of this blog.)
