Women in My Life

Phyllis and Melissa are the two most important women in my life. Of course Phyllis is my beautiful wife. She and I have been married for almost 25 years. She is one of the most patient people you would ever meet. This gift serves her well as a third grade teacher. It has also been a necessary attribute, otherwise we probably would have never married. She is an excellent teacher and also serves as a leader for the third grade teaching team.

Melissa is my precious and beautiful, one and only daughter. She is a freshman at Abilene Christian University. Melissa is a psychology major, which fits her very well. She is a deep thinker, and enjoys conversing about spiritual and psychological matters. Melissa also has a passion for children who are hurting. This summer she is going to be a camp counselor at Camp Kadesh, on the ACU campus. Melissa is going to do well in life.

I will introduce you to my boys next.

David,

Saw your post on Cope's blog. My oldest daughter, Whitney, is a junior this year and we visited ACU last November and were very impressed. We had a youth intern from there last summer in Melbourne, Florida where I preach and we got to see her while there.

Any wisdom to possible ACU parent?

Steve,

ACU is probably one of the best Christian schools in America. ACU is more diverse than most of the other Christian schools (CoC). In Abilene there is a church for about every flavor of CoC, and some other community churches that are popular with ACU kids. My advice to Whitney is that you will not go wrong by choosing ACU. Make friends early, and you will have a great experience!

Steve, I have two kids at ACU.
Making friends early is the key.
I think it is so awesome that my kids have made friends who will be life long and in to eternity.
Whitney will do well at ACU.
