Direct Operating System

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27

Whatever is at the center of your life, your core, is your direct operating system. Stephen Covey in his book, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, gives some great examples of what individuals choose to be at the center of their life (check out the appendix). Decisions and perceptions are made based on this center.

One of my favorite phrases in scripture is "this mystery, which is Christ in you." I remember seeing a poster once that phrased it this way, "the mystery is this, Christ in you."

What does it mean to have Christ as the direct operating system for my life?

David,
I look forward to your thoughts on this.

I hope you are finding places or a place to speak. I will pray today for that.

David, I'm curious, do you believe that we are all one? Or do you believe that we are separate entities? When I say 'we' I am asking about humanity.
I ask because I love that mystery of Christ in me too, but I understand it as love, compassion and many other values that to me are important and not exclusive to one religion.

Lorena,

I believe that we have a shared humanity in that we are all God's creation. Christ revealed love, compassion, hope, and many teachings that are common to many religions. However, I believe that Christ was not only revelatory, he was also redemptive. Jesus as God, became man so that he could redeem humanity back to God. The author of the book of Colossians writes:

"The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross."
