"For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully
and wonderfully made,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together
in the depths of the earth,
your eyes saw my unformed body.
before one of them came to be."
Psalms 139:13-16
Being knit together or "wired" by God is an extraordinary thought. Creating the human body and soul is amazing, awe-inspiring, complex, beyond imagination and intellect. When we reflect on the gift of life, hopefully, we praise God.
You may be like me, however, that it would have been nice to be created with more intelligence, better looks, and the list goes on. I guess when we begin thinking about our genes, environment, time, place, and the other factors involving entering this world, we either get frustrated or praise God how blessed we are. On the negative side, we may even get to the point like Job and have thoughts of regret that we were ever born. On the positive side, we have moments of praising God for creating us, inspite of growing to somewhere near the size of Zacchaeus and being about as bright as a 60 watt bulb (personally speaking). I marvel at the Michelangelo David's and the 100 watt bulbs among us.
Getting beyond the physical, which is probably the best place to start, the wiring of the soul is what is the most fascinating. God did not wire us to be self- sufficient, co-dependent on other human beings, or even without physical needs and desires. God created us with longings that are designed to be quenched on earth, however, they can only be satisfied in heaven. What are these longings?
