Where was Jesus?

Where was Jesus on the Virginia Tech campus yesterday? Did he show up? Why didn't he present himself to Cho Seung-Hui and let him know that he was loved and should not feel lonely and isolated? "He was quiet," said one student, "he didn't want to be bothered."

An English teacher reached out to Cho. She gave him one on one teaching. Because of his enigmatic writing, she encouraged him to get counseling. Maybe she was Jesus to Cho.

Who are the isolated among us? Is it the neighbor who does not want to be bothered? Is it the student who is quiet and compliant, yet inside has a mind full of rage.

I feel so sorry for the parents and family of these students, and the friends and fellow students.

There are so many stories embracing each life lost. The resident assistant who everyone loved, the beautiful dancer who spent last summer in Beirut, and the professor who gave his life to his students. Maybe Jesus died yesterday, again.
