Believe in the One who Believes in You

My certainty is greater than your doubt. -- Dave Buck (Coach University)

Do you have someone in your life that really believes in you? Not just a "you can do it" kind of person -- although that is something you may hear. It is a person whose belief in you is greater than your doubts, or lack of faith.

Jesus believes in you more than you believe in yourself. One example of this in scripture is the "recommissioning" of Peter.

When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my lambs." A second time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Tend my sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter felt hurt because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep. (John 21)

Jesus believed that Peter was the right man for the job, in spite of what was on Peter's resume. Cursing your boss "behind his back" is not exactly a resume enhancer. Peter's actions said one thing, his heart said something different. He believed that Jesus was the answer to all of his questions.

I imagine like Adam and Eve, Peter felt exposed and ashamed. However, Jesus took away his shame. Jesus didn't condemn, he loved. He didn't tear down, he resurrected Peter's faith.

You may not have anyone that believes in you more than you believe in yourself. Pray for someone to come into your life (someone with skin on). Accept that Jesus believes in you. Like Peter, humbly come before God. You may not even be able to lift your head up. That's okay. Humble yourself before the Lord, and He will lift you up.

Jesus' certainty is greater than your doubts!

No, I'm not collecting any smooth stones. That was a great comment you left. Trust you have a good and godly Christmas. So sorry to hear about Tony's son. What a tragic twist to an otherwise incredible year for the Colts.

In His love,

David
