Michael and I went for some pizza tonight after "the game" at the New York Style Pizzeria. There were two couples eating next to our table, all wearing Houston Astro shirts. As they were leaving, I asked them if they went to "the game." Beaming with joy, their smiles gave the answer. My response was "congratulations" -- not because the Astros won, but for having the opportunity to see in person one of the greatest playoff games in baseball history. I almost asked for their autographs.
What an incredible battle of wills! Eighteen innings! The most ever for a playoff game. When Roger Clements went in as a relief pitcher, you knew the game went from extraordinary to extraterrestrial. It is in that moment that baseball becomes pure. These were no longer multimillionaires playing a boys game, it was a display of the human spirit fighting for survival.
What a game! This is the year for the Astros. Wouldn't it be fantastic if the Astros win the World Series, and then you would no that the real battle was won at "the game."

David: I guess it's alright if the Astros win the World Series. There are some committed Christians on the team so I'm O.K. with them winning since the Jays are long gone. Andy Pettitte, Morgan Ensberg and Lance Berkman are a few of the believers on the club. I wish I had seen last night's game.
Be blessed today, my friend!
Much love in Christ,
David
I saw some of it on tv--I would be thrilled if this was the year for the Astros!
