Gratitude

"Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow." - - Anonymous

"Gratitude changes the pangs of memory into a tranquil of joy." -- Dietrich Bonhoeffer

"No one is as capable of gratitude as one who has emerged from the kingdom of night."
-- Elie Wiesel

Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,
having been
firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. -- Apostle Paul

How do you get from a painful past, to a peaceful present? This question has been the guiding question of my life. Compared to many, my past was "a walk in the park." (Elie Wiesel had one of the most painful pasts I have ever read about). Yet there are others who have had a less painful past, yet they are stuck. It is time to move forward!

A word about being "stuck." Have you ever had a car stuck in the mud? I have been stuck, or helped people get out of being stuck many times. Sometimes by going back and forth a few times, you can get yourself out. Other times it only takes a push from a friend or kind stranger to get you moving. Sometimes it takes several strong burly guys to get you out (especially if you are stuck close to a bar). But then sometimes, you must get help from another vehicle. If you are really stuck, it will probably take a tractor or a 4 wheel drive to get you out. Maybe one of those guys with the four wheel drive with the giant tires can help you out. This may be his one big break to use all of that power for something besides taking ego trips.

My point is this, if you need a tractor to pull you out, that means you are really stuck! There is nothing to be ashamed of being "high centered." Feeling shame, guilt, or anger is not going to get you out. You need to call someone to come get you out.

Pray, ask God to send you an "angel." It is amazing how many times I have had problems, prayed, and someone shows up.

Seek the counsel of a wise friend or spiritual guide.

Go see your doctor or a therapist and let them know that you are "stuck."

Email me: dvdbrntt@aol.com and I can give you more guidance on how to get unstuck.

Help is on the way!

The next blogs are going to be on the theme of "How to go from a painful past, to a peaceful present." It should be an exciting journey. We are going to begin with gratitude.

It is amazing how we can get "un-stuck" if we will just admit that we are "stuck". I think that is why pride is such a harmful sin.

Great thoughts!
