Lance Armstrong chronicled his amazing comeback from cancer to win the Tour De France in his book, "It's Not About the Bike." His story is an amazing story of resiliency and courage.
Today I am going to get back on my bike. For several years my exercise has been long-distance cycling. However, for the past nine months, I have not been on the bike. My son borrowed my good road bike for a long distance cycling class he was taking at Abilene Christian University. I have a mountain bike, but only road it a few times.
It's not about the bike. Moving forward with my life, being the best I can be is what cycling does for me. My goal is to participate this August in the "Chain Gang Ride" which is a fundraiser for the Youth Development Center. I have ridden in several 180 plus rides and one 230 mile ride. This one is over 350 miles in the hot Texas heat. Should be fun!

I just finished riding 10 miles. I am so out of shape! Starting off small and building up endurance is the key to riding 350 miles in four days. Before long I will be doing 60-75 miles each Saturday building up to the ride. Hopefully, my knees and butt will be there for the ride.
