God is My Strength

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear... Psalms 46:1-2a

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength...Philippians 4:19

Resiliency is bouncing back, overcoming adversity, and staying the course. Resiliency requires strength. When we are knocked down, we get back up. When the weight of our circumstances seem so heavy, we find enough space to take one breath, and then another, and another. It often takes every ounce of strength we can muster, just to keep breathing.

Where do we find the strength to bounce back? In my life, my strength is God. I have often felt like the followers of Jesus when they said, "Where can we go Lord, you have the words of life?" Or as the old hymn proclaims, "Where could I go but to the Lord?" Some people find their strength in themselves(independent), some find it in others (codependent). Either one of these options usually leads us to more pain.

Fill in the blank. "I can do all things through ____ who gives me strength." Where does your strength come from? When we are CENTERED in God, our EMPOWERMENT comes from Him. Maybe this doesn't happen until we "hit rock bottom," as the saying goes. Meditate on the words, "I can do all things through Jesus who gives me strength." Pray for God's strength to empower every area of your life.
