RESILIENCY

I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be. 13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven. Philippians 3:12-14

"Resiliency is the ability to spring back from and successfully adapt to adversity."(www.resiliency.com)

Several years ago, I told "my story" to someone who has written several books on adoption from an adoptees perspective. Her response was, "Your story is similar to so many stories of the men I have talked to who are in prison. It is amazing that you didn't end up in prison." Her words were very encouraging. Yes, many of my experiences the first 18 years of my life could have left me bitter and angry and resentful. But there is something in my soul that has kept me moving forward. It is a sense of destiny. The belief that I have been created to make a difference. A sense that no matter what has happened to me in the past, the best days are ahead.

More to come....
